National Association of Counties. Good source of information and data in county statistics, policies, ordinances, etc.

Welfare Information Network. Provides data, policy analysis and links to welfare related sites of putlic and private sector organizations

The California Budget Project (CBP) was founded in 1994 to provide Californians with a source of timely, objective, and accessible policy expertise on state and local tax and budget issues. The mission of the CBP is to promote a better understanding of state fiscal policy issues in order to encourage the development of a healthy public sector based on a fair and equitable tax system.

Welfare Watch. Provides data for journalists and policy makers on how welfare reform is being implemented arount the country and keeps track of the effects on people.

Fundsnet. Extensive resources in the areas of philanthropy for nonprofit organizations, grantwriters and consultants seeking information on funding sources, Scholarships and Financial Aid for college and high school students, and other resources of interest.

Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Legislation, Summaries, Implementation and Guidance on the WIA which replaced JTPA on January 1, 1999.

Legislative Analyst's Office. Reports of all areas of California Social Services activities.

Urban Institute. Private, Non Profit educational and policy research organization. Articles, information and analysis on various social and economic problems faced by the US.

The Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR). Independent, non-profit, scientific research organization founded in 1987 to rectify the limited availability of policy-relevant research on women's lives and to inform and stimulate the debate on issues of critical importance to women.

The Research Forum on Children, Families, and the New Federalism. Columbia University's National Center for Children in Poverty) maintains an on-line database with summaries of large and small-scale research projects. The web site now includes 105 project summaries.

Federal Statistics. Census collection of Tables, Statistics, Rankings, etc. that can be useful in research or proposal writing.

The Documents Center. (Univ of Michigan) is a central reference and referral point for government information, whether local, state, federal, foreign or international. Its web pages are a reference and instructional tool for government, political science, statistical data, and news.

Silicon Valley Public Access Link (SV-PAL). SV-PAL is a non-profit computer network which makes on-line information accessible to people living in the Silicon Valley (southern portion of the San Francisco Bay Area), regardless of financial status and educational level. SV-PAL provides full access to the Internet and training on how to use the network.

CA State Dept of Social Services. Welfare to Work Program Statistics, Policies, Programs, All County Letters.

Child Welfare Review. More than 100 articles in 6 different catagories: Child Abuse, Foster Care and Adoption, Children and Welfare Reform, Child Poverty and Inequality, Advocacy, and values and children.

Mathematica. Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., was founded in 1968 to conduct the first major social policy research experiment in the United States. Since then, it has conducted evaluations of policies and programs in health care, welfare, education, nutrition, employment, and early childhood development.

MDRC (Manpower Development Research Corporation). MDRC's evaluations cover the entire range of welfare studies, from the nation's largest social experiments testing welfare-to-work strategies to a wide range of implementation studies, tests of administrative practices, qualitative and ethnographic studies, and technical assistance to states and localities in adopting best practices.

Earned Income Tax Credit Package 2001. The EITC can make a real difference in the lives of low income workers. Those leaving welfare for low wage jobs could increase their incomes or have a lump sum payment at the end of the year. The EITC is not public assistance and low income legal immigrants are fully eligible for the credit. Center for Budget & Policy Priorities. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is a nonpartisan research organization and policy institute that conducts research and analysis on a range of government policies and programs, with an emphasis on those affecting low- and moderate-income people.
